Top Tips to Increase Engagement on Your Facebook Page Posted on April 19th, 2011 by Courtney Mills Two new reports recently released have shared an insight into how businesses can make their Facebook page more successful by making their fans more engaged in the content shared. The first report is from Buddy Media who collected data from 200 of its clients’ pages. It found that time is an important factor in determining the success of a Facebook post. Here are the main outcomes from the report: Facebook engagement has three peaks: early morning (7 a.m. EST), after work (5 p.m. EST) and late at night (11 p.m. EST) Thursday and Friday have 18% more engagement than other days of the week, suggesting that Facebook is a procrastination tool when people are itching to get out of the office Posts with 80 characters or less — the length of a short tweet — garnered 27% more engagement than posts that were more than 80 characters 15% more engagement with a question at the end of a post than if t...

Refuting Debunked SEO Practices

Refuting Debunked SEO Practices I came across an interesting blog post from ISEdb.com that was titled: “16 SEO Tactics That Will NOT Bring Targeted Google Visitors” where Jill Whalen was discussing strategies that she felt were no longer valid seo tactics. I have reposted some of the points here and have added in my comments on each. Jill’s posts are in green italics. Individually these tactics amount to very little; on this point I agree. (scary I know…) then you would have to redesign your sites for other search engines that may put more weight on these signals. Meta Keywords: “Lord help us! I thought I was done discussing the ole meta keywords tag in 1999, but today in 2011 I encounter people with websites who still think this is an important SEO tactic. My guess is it’s easier to f...

Google Doc Provides by Barry Welford

What Google Docs provides Basically Google Docs provides a cloud-computing version of almost all the software programs that are available in the Microsoft Office suite of programs. For example, the following are the main files that can be created: Document = Word Spreadsheet = Excel Presentation = PowerPoint You can also make drawings and can store most files including images and PDF files. All these files are stored in what are called collections, which is really a tagging system. That means that a given file can be found in a number of different collections if that is helpful. What can be done in Google Docs is expanding all the time. All files are searchable using the power and rapidity of Google Search, which is an additional advantage of working within Google Docs. It should be noted that because this software is operating via cloud-computing, the functionality may be slightly reduced versus software, which is operating on a desktop PC. However for the vast majority of applica...

Deals on Facebook – A Competitor to GroupOn Posted by Lisa Braziel A few months ago, Facebook launched its first iteration of deals that could be unlocked by a user checking in to Facebook Places. On Tuesday, they began expanded their deals offering to provide Facebook fans with location-based deals, very similar to GroupOn or Living Social. The following are my 3 main questions and answers to this new service offering. Is it Open to Everyone? Currently there is no self-serve method of creating Deals. Similar to how GroupOn and LivingSocial got started, Facebook is launching in the following test cities first: Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, San Diego and San Francisco. This being said, businesses can still submit a form if they are interested. By asking businesses to enter their Facebook page URL, this will also allow Facebook to screen which businesses get contacted f...

Inbound Marketing

David Meerman Scott Freshspot Marketing You can buy attention (advertising) You can beg for attention from the media (PR) You can bug people one at a time to get attention (sales) Or you can earn attention by creating something interesting and valuable and then publishing it online for free: a YouTube video, a blog, a research report, photos, Twitter stream, an eBook, a Facebook page. This is Inbound Marketing and it works brilliantly.
